Happy Birthday, Mini-Me! A Recap of Our Taylor Swift Weekend and Ideas for Celebrating Your Child's Birthday
Mini-me and I before the Taylor Swift Eras Concert
Birthdays are important to our family, ok! So, I have been known to plan, cater, and decorate a party (and wedding) or two. This includes creating unique invitations and decor! I thoroughly enjoyed this creative outlet, especially in honor of our children. I love celebrating our children and their role in our family unit! And today, I get to celebrate my mini-me! I am proud to say that we have a twelve-year-old!

Any small gathering can significantly impact your child's life by strengthening bonds and developing new relationships. Well, what about a crowd of about 70,000 people? Yes, I said 70,000 people. We celebrated our daughter's birthday by taking her and a friend to the Taylor Swift Concert (it was a surprise). I did 😇while the hubby created a guys' weekend for him and our son. Y'all, saying we had a good time or it was awesome does not adequately describe this amazing experience! All right, Taylor Swift put on a show, and we had a time! Yes, there were a few rain showers. By the way, I am looking forward to that new Titans stadium, where the weather will be a non-factor. Anyway, a few raindrops do not stop her show or our fun, especially when you have a matching emergency poncho on the ready. We were the first to hear about the Speak Now album announcement! Also, I have never been so thankful for the stadium requirements of a clear handbag because my plastic hobo trimmed in green (of course) did its job! Yay, for waterproof!
Taylor Swift Concert Recap
I digress; let's get back to the concert! Y'all, she ( and the entire crowd, yours truly included) sang for over two and a half hours. Her wardrobe changes went swiftly ( see what I did there?). There was fire, confetti, lights, and smoke, and our LED wristbands put on a fantastic light show following the music and mood. Unfortunately, I misplaced my wristband while juggling three bottles of water, candy, and a pretzel to our seats in the heavens. ( I had put the wristband in the secret spot on my body where women of a particular age place cash and stuff 😂and found it later that night). After the initial shock of the elevation( with several rows behind us), I appreciated that we could see everything and reap the benefits of the wristband lights. They flickered to become a part of the show creating hearts and swaying tree branches, to name a couple, and I was mesmerized. My mini-me was grateful to be there and share this memory, and so was I.
Outfits for Taylor Swift Eras Tour
Let's get into fashion by mentioning what we wore to the Taylor Swift concert. By the way, if you want to know how to choose what to wear to a show, I can help. Check out my previous post, where I share five outfit ideas, considerations, and tips to try when choosing what to wear to a concert. Anyway, after obsessively checking the weather forecast, My mini-me opted for a tiered spaghetti strapped mini dress with a white crop top t-shirt ( purchased on or impromptu Target run once we arrived in Nashville) and sparkly Converse; her friend wore pink skort overalls with a white crop top t-shirt and white iridescent sneakers, and I wore a pink sequin dress and green and white sneakers. We were so cute! My outfit deserves a round of applause if I do say so myself! Oh yea, I bought some Mosquito repellent bands that you can wear on your wrist and legs, and they worked well.

8 Ideas to Celebrate Your Child's Birthday
So this year's birthday celebration was epic, resulting from a brainstorming list of how to celebrate and activities that could make for a wonderful day. Here are eight more ideas from my list of ways to celebrate your child's special day that will make them feel loved and appreciated:
1. Have a themed party: Pick your child's favorite theme, and plan the decorations, games, food, and activities around it.
2. Host a sleepover: Invite your child's friends for a sleepover with movies, popcorn, activities, and plenty of snacks.
3. Birthday breakfast: Start the day with a special breakfast with your child's favorite foods. You can get in some family bonding time by cooking together or opt to go to their favorite breakfast spot.
4. Have a decorating party: Get creative and let your child and their friends decorate their birthday cake and cookies.
5. Have a painting party: Continuing with the creativity (it's our thing), let your child and their friends paint their canvas masterpieces, flower pots, tea cups, cars, and more.
6. Take a cooking class: Sign up for a fun cooking class where your child can learn to make their favorite food.
7. Throw a pool party: If you can access a pool, plan a pool party with games, floats, and plenty of snacks. Also, gyms and community centers offer pool party services.
8. Donate to a charity: Encourage your child to give back on their special day by donating to a charity of their choice. Instead of gifts, you can ask for items like books, toys, etc., to be collected for donation.
To Our Beautiful Daughter: Happy Birthday!
So to our daughter, here is to you last year in tweendom! I said this to you when I first held you in my arms and will continue to do so as long as there is breath in my body. Before you were born, we dreamed of you, we imagined you, and we Prayed for you. Now that you are here, we hope for you, we love you, we Pray for you, and we thank God for allowing us to be your parents while simultaneously enjoying a little piece of heaven here on Earth! Happy 144 months!
